Apply for “Taiwan-Europe Connectivity Scholarship for International Students 2024/2025”
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs Taiwan (MOFA) is offering applications for Taiwan-Europe Connectivity Scholarship at National Tsing Hua University in Taiwan. The program is designed to encourage international students to exchange or pursue their studies at NTHU for the fall semester of 2024 from September 2024 – January 2025.
The MOFA-NTHU Taiwan-Europe Connectivity Scholarship program is open to promoting bilateral exchanges and friendship between the peoples of Taiwan and Europe. Prospective international students who are high school graduates or above with excellent academic records are eligible to apply.
National Tsing Hua University (NTHU) was founded on 30 March 1911 in the Chinese capital of Beijing. After the Chinese Civil War, it was re-established in Taiwan’s Hsinchu City in 1956. It is a public research university knowledge as one of the six national research universities in Taiwan.

Eligibility
- Eligible Countries: All nationalities (MOFA will review and assign different countries every year)
- Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded for undergraduate and graduate study
- Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the following criteria:
- A prospective Degree/ Dual Degree student who holds a passport from the United Kingdom, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Belgium, Slovak Republic, Finland, Sweden, Republic of Lithuania
- Applicants must be a high school graduate or above with an excellent academic record, good moral character, and no criminal record.
- Applicants are prospective Exchange/ Degree/ Dual Degree students.
- Applicants are not Nationals of the Republic of China (Taiwan) or overseas compatriot students.
- The recipient is required to participate in a student-driven activity for the cultural interactions, such as being a presenter for the session host or presenter for the info session for language interactions or other activities to facilitate the English-language interactions.
- Recipients must not receive financial benefits from Taiwanese government agencies or educational institutions.
How to Apply
MOFA-NTHU Taiwan-Europe Connectivity Scholarship Application Form
- How to Apply: Interested applicants should send the complete application, including an application form, a transcript of academic records, and a copy of their passport, via [email protected].
- Applicants must apply to study at NTHU in Taiwan. The admission deadline for undergraduates is 17 January , and for graduate study is 21 February.
- Supporting Documents: Transcripts and a copy of your passport are required. The recipient should submit a report of experience-sharing feedback in the format of a graphic or audiovisual record.
- For admission: Applicants must submit the following:
- An online application form: Complete and print out the online application form at National Tsing Hua University Online Application for International Students
- A photocopy of a diploma/degree in English or Chinese
- Official transcripts in English or Chinese
- Statement of purpose
- Two recommendation letters
- Financial certificate
- Declaration form
- Verification of nationality: provide a copy of their passport
- Program specific requirements
- Proof of English Proficiency
- Pretest: only for bachelor program (Applicants for Bachelor programs must download the Pretest Instructions from Online Application System and submit the pretest (if any).)
- Admission Requirements: The recipient must undertake at least 1 Chinese learning course (2 credits) each semester at NTHU Chinese Language Center and must meet the program’s eligibility requirements. Applicants must meet all the program-specific requirements: Graduate and Undergraduate.
- Language Requirement: Applicants must have Proficiency in English and fulfilling one of the following requirements:
- TOEFL iBT 61, TOEIC 520, or IELTS 5 (for both graduate and undergraduate study)
- If you are from an English-speaking country, provide a copy of your passport (for both graduate and undergraduate study)
- If you have completed your previous degree in an English-speaking country, upload a diploma. (for undergraduate study)
- If you have completed a previous degree taught entirely in English, provide the official statement. (for undergraduate study)
- Proof of Mandarin Proficiency: TOCFL A2 or HSK Level 4 (for undergraduate study)
Benefits
Ministry of Foreign Affairs Taiwan (MOFA) will provide a monthly scholarship of NTD 20,000 from September 2024 – January 2025. Every student can apply and receive the scholarship once. The scholarship quotas are adjusted on a yearly basis (depending on MOFA’s budget).
