The University of Southampton is pleased to offer the Southampton Electronics and Computer Science (ECS) Commonwealth Scholarships for worldwide students.
The offer is available to new international students from Commonwealth countries. The program aims to demonstrate their commitment to building greater inclusivity in their ECS community and widening access to enable well-qualified international students to study in the UK.

- Eligibility Criteria: To be eligible for a scholarship, students must have an offer to study, pay the overseas tuition fee, and pay their tuition fees themselves.
- By accepting a scholarship, students agree to act as good ambassadors for the University of Southampton and participate in events or promotional activities.
- To get a scholarship, the applicant must meet all conditions attached to their offer and enroll as a full-time student by the start date.
How to Apply
The mode of application is online.
- How to Apply: Applicants can apply from 24 October 2023. The university will then update the application page with a link to the application form.
- As part of your application, students will need to answer 4 questions on how their studies at Southampton can contribute to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
- Which UN Sustainable Development Goals are relevant to your expected programme of study and why? (100 words maximum, per goal).
- Outline how your intended programme of study and research can contribution to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (250 words maximum word count).
- They are looking for scholars who will use their time at Southampton to achieve remarkably and build an inclusive world.?Explain your future goals and how your chosen programme at Southampton will help you achieve that (200 words maximum word count).
- As a Southampton ECS Commonwealth scholar, how might you act as an ambassador for the University? (200 words maximum word count).
- Supporting Documents: Provide evidence of where you live and qualifications at enrolment. The candidate must submit all the required documents mentioned on the online application at the time of admission.
- Admission Requirements: Entry requirements vary from program to program (Undergraduate and Postgraduate).
- Language Requirement: Depending on your educational background and country of origin, you may need to provide evidence of your English proficiency to be able to study (for undergraduate and postgraduate) at the university.
Benefits
Successful applicants will receive a £3,000 award as a tuition fee discount. The tuition fees will be covered in full if the award amount is more than tuition. Students will not get any additional funding.
There are 20 scholarships available: 10 for undergraduates and 10 for postgraduates.
