Apply for “NTI Hsing Yun Education Foundation (HYEF) Scholarships in Australia, 2024/2025”
The new Hsing Yun Education Foundation (HYEF) scholarship for international students is now available at Nan Tien Institute (NTI) to study in Australia. These scholarships assist high achieving international students to undertake Applied Buddhist Studies programs.
The scholarships have a strong emphasis on social inclusion and equity and are awarded on the basis of financial need and/or other hardship. Some also recognise factors such as academic excellence.
Launched in 2011, within the grounds of the Nan Tien Buddhist Temple, in Wollongong, New South Wales, Nan Tien Institute (NTI) is a private, not for profit, higher education provider offering studies in the areas of arts, health, mindfulness and wellbeing.
Scholarship Description:
- Applications Deadline: October
- Course Level: Scholarships are available to pursue Master degree programme.
- Study Subject: Scholarships are awarded to study the following programmes:
- Master of Arts (Applied Buddhist Studies)
- Graduate Diploma of Applied Buddhist Studies
- Graduate Certificate in Applied Buddhist Studies
- Scholarship Award: Each scholarship will provide for the following:
- Tuition fees for the course of study at NTI;
- Twin share accommodation at the Pilgrim Lodge of Nan Tien Temple;
- Vegetarian meals provided by Nan Tien Temple.
The scholarship does not include the cost of visa application, health check or health cover, travel insurance, living expenses, books or any other additional expenses associated with living in Australia or study at NTI or accompaniment by family members.
2.3 The scholarship is not transferable or redeemable for cash, should the recipient choose to find their own off-campus accommodation or provide/purchase their own meals.
2.4 An additional weekly payment be charged if scholarship recipient wishes to upgrade the twin share accommodation to a single room.
- Nationality: These scholarships are available for international students.
- Number of Scholarships: There are ten (10) scholarships available to awarded over two (2) semesters annually.

Entrance Requirements: Applicants must meet the following criteria:
The applicant must have been admitted or been offered admission to one of the following Applied Buddhist Studies courses at NTI:
- Master of Arts (Applied Buddhist Studies)
- Graduate Diploma of Applied Buddhist Studies
- Graduate Certificate in Applied Buddhist Studies
3.2 The applicant must be a citizen of an overseas country (excluding New Zealand), and not normally reside in Australia.
English Language Requirements: Applicants must meet the institute’s English Language Requirements.
