College of Law and Governance
The College of Law and Governance (CLG) is one of the six colleges of Jimma University. Located at the main campus, the College at the moment brings together School of Law and Department of Governance and Development Studies.
The college has a strong presence in the community among others via the Free Legal Aid center of the School of Law. It offers both undergraduate and post graduate trainings and is strongly working in diversifying trainings both in undergradaute and graduate programs.
The College was established in July 2014 up on a board decision as part of the restructuring of colleges of the University with the amalgamation of School of Law and Department of Governance and Development Studies

Business and Economics College (BECO) was established in 1997, when the Department of Accounting and Management were opened. In September 2003, the College opened two other departments: the Department of Economics and the Department of Business Education, both of which have already accepted students in their respective fields in September 2003. Thus, the College runs its teaching activities at degree level in the following fields of studies: Accounting, Business Management, Economics and Business Education. At diploma level the following are run: Business Management, Accounting, and Secretarial Science and Office Management.

College of Education and Behavioral Science (CEBS) was established as Institute of Education and Professional Development Studies in the year 2010 following business process reengineering in the university. The Institute is meant to run both regular teaching and the University’s continuous professional development programs for both the academic and administrative staffs. In 2014, the institute was upgraded to a collage level. Presently it is called College of Education and Behavioral Sciences. It has three undergraduate programs, two post graduate diploma programs, two postgraduate certificate programs and eleven post graduate programs. Moreover, the college runs many other short term professional development programs

College of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine
Jimma University College of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine (JUCAVM) was established in 1952 as Jimma Agricultural Technical School (JATS) in collaboration with Oklahoma State University. In 1999 Jimma College of Agriculture (JCA) amalgamated to Jimma Institute of Health Sciences (JIH; founded in1983) as co-founders of Jimma University. JUCAVM is dedicated to advancing agricultural development through training, knowledge generation and service delivery in Ethiopia and beyond. The college trains at graduate and undergraduate levels in broad areas of agriculture and veterinary medicine. Currently, JUCAVM runs over 10 bachelor programs, 24 master programs and 11 PhD programs. It has over 1805 student population, over 218 academic and over 531 permanent administrative staffs and over 289 Contract Staff. It runs educational programs in regular, in-service, bega, weekend, distance and on location.

College of Natural Sciences
The College of Natural Sciences is the recent name given to the former Faculty of Education with some basic re-organization in departmental composition and future direction as of July, 2009. The Faculty of Education used to train professional teachers in different fields of study (Afan Oromo, Amharic, Biology, Chemistry, English, History, Geography and Environmental Studies, Mathematics, Pedagogy, Physics and Sport Sciences) in regular, extension, and/or summer programs. As of July, 2009, however, the Faculty of Education was re-structured into Colleges of Natural Sciences and Social Sciences & Law. Currently, the College of Natural Sciences encompasses seven functional departments including the departments of Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, and Sport Sciences.
