Fukuoka City International Foundation is inviting applications, from international students, for two types of scholarships in Japan: “Yokatopia Scholarship” and “Future Development Scholarship”.
The Yokatopia Foundation and the Fukuoka International Association merged on 1 April 2014. The Asian-Pacific Exposition – Fukuoka ’89 (also known as “Yokatopia”) was held over the 171 days between March 17 and September 3, 1989, with the theme “seeking encounters with a new world.” The exposition provided an opportunity that enabled Kyushu and Fukuoka to deepen exchanges with other countries, principally those in the Asia-Pacific region.
Applicants whose first language is not English are usually required to provide evidence of proficiency in English at the higher level required by the University.
Fukuoka City International Foundation Scholarships in Japan
Scholarship Description:
- Application Deadline: Yokatopia Scholarship for International Students: Scheduled from early April to early May (anticipated) and Future Development Scholarship for International Students: Scheduled from mid-April to late May (anticipated).
- Course Level: Scholarships are available to pursue undergraduate and postgraduate programme.
- Study Subject: Scholarships are awarded to learn any of the courses offered by the university.
- Scholarship Award: Yokatopia Scholarship for International Students: 60,000 yen/month and
- Future Development Scholarship for International Students: For graduate students: 500,000 yen or more, For undergraduate students: 300,000 yen or more

Postgraduate students or undergraduate students in their second year or above, who are enrolled at a university in the Fukuoka Metropolitan Area and whose total received scholarship amount, including this scholarship, does not exceed the amount of the MEXT (Monbukagakusho) Scholarship.
Future Development Scholarship for International Students
Students who are enrolled at a university in Fukuoka Metropolitan Area and whose total received scholarship amount, including this scholarship, does not exceed the amount of the MEXT (Monbukagakusho) Scholarship.
