Eligibility: Candidates must meet all of the following criteria to be considered for the Metso Mining Scholarship for Mechanical Engineers:
-Have a minimum course weighted average of 60
-Be enrolled in the second year of a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering) Degree and plan to enrol in the third year of the same degree in semester 1, 2024
-Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or the holder of an Australian Permanent Humanitarian or Permanent Resident visa
-Be eligible for a Commonwealth Supported place
Scholarship Open for International Students: The students of Australia and New Zealand can apply for this scholarship.
Scholarship Description: The Metso Mining Scholarship for Mechanical Engineers has been developed by Metso Minerals (Australia) Ltd. in conjunction with Curtin University to encourage and support students who have chosen to study Mechanical Engineering at Curtin University.

Duration of award(s): Scholarship is offered for expected duration of the undergraduate degree (based on full time enrollment).
What does it cover? –The scholarship offered to 3rd year engineering students will provide a cash payment of $8,000 per year for the normal remaining expected duration of the undergraduate degree (based on full time enrollment).
-Continuation to the 4th year is subject to the meeting of all of the Terms & Conditions at the end of 3rd year to assist with costs associated with studying (fees, textbooks, incidental expenses etc).
Other Benefits: In addition, scholarship winners will be offered the opportunity to undertake vacation work within Metso and with the help of an allocated mentor, will enable them to gain an insight into a career in mechanical engineering. In addition to this the scholarship winner may also be awarded graduate employment within Metso Minerals (subject to availability and Metso’s recruitment criteria).Metso Minerals shall not have any obligation to Curtin or any other party (including the scholarship recipients) in respect of any cost, claim or liability arising in respect of the scholarship other than the payment of the stipend set out above.The scholarship will be paid in two installments of $4,000 (pro rata payments apply if semester study load is less than 100 credit points).Payments will occur after enrollment is confirmed post census date each semester. Payments will be made approximately mid-end April and September.
